The AIM Literary Festival is a visionary initiative by Author In Me Publishing, an award-winning small press renowned for publishing thought-provoking and transformational stories set against global backdrops.  

 

Founded by Monica Sood and Ekta Bajaj, the festival celebrates the transformative power of storytelling to empower, connect, and inspire. It serves as a unique platform where voices from all walks of life—emerging writers, acclaimed authors, and young storytellers—come together to honour literature, exchange ideas, and inspire future generations.  

 

Entering its sixth year in 2025, the festival has grown from a modest two-hour online event into a vibrant week-long celebration of storytelling, cultural diversity, and knowledge exchange. Held every October, it champions creativity, diverse narratives, and transformative ideas, uniting authors, industry professionals, and readers for an enriching literary experience.

Shrabani Basu is a Sunday Times best-selling author and journalist. Her books include the critically acclaimed The Mystery of the Parsee Lawyer, For King and Another Country, Victoria & Abdul: (now a major Oscar-nominated motion picture starring Dame Judi Dench and Ali Fazal) Spy Princess and Curry: The Story of the Nation’s Favourite Dish. Powerful Discussion on Diversity In Publishing / AIM LITERARY FESTIVAL 2022

Diversity in publishing UK's publishing sector is one of only three nations in the world to publish more than 100,000 titles every year. The UK is also home to a diverse community. However, ethnic representation within the publishing industry is just 8%. In this session, we aim to stir a discussion and explore answers to the questions such as: Are the bookshelves representing the diverse community? Is there enough demand, or is there a limited supply of books written by authors of colour? Are literary agents struggling to narrow the gap between a well-written literary work and cultural representation? Are the school libraries representing the myriad stories of cultures that are integral to the UK? What are the challenges faced by aspiring authors?
