The AIM Literary Festival is a cherished initiative by Author In Me, an award-winning small press based in High Wycombe, and proudly funded by Arts Council England. The theme of this year's festival is Life, Experiences and Stories in between.
Scheduled from October 14th to 19th, 2024, this year's festival promises an extraordinary gathering of authors, poets, publishing experts, and literary enthusiasts celebrating literature, creativity, and cultural exchange.
Immerse yourself in a series of dynamic events across London, Buckinghamshire, and Brent. The inaugural event will be held at The Library, La Médiathèque,
The Institut français . Our children’s events will take place at the iconic Roald Dahl Museum, designed to spark creativity and a love for reading and writing among young minds.
Our pre-inaugural event on August 6th at the Nehru Centre in London was a huge success, drawing a full house and attended by esteemed guests, poets, authors, and literary enthusiasts. The event set the tone for the upcoming festival with inspiring sessions and vibrant discussions.
Our mission is to amplify unheard voices, foster a passion for reading and writing and celebrate the diversity that enriches our storytelling. We believe that every story matters and that through sharing our experiences, we can build a more inclusive and understanding community.

The inaugural event sets the stage for a week of literary exploration and celebration. .The evening begins with welcome drinks and a special performance, accompanied by an address from festival founders Ekta Bajaj and Monica Sood. Following this, Lady Kishwar Desai delivers an insightful keynote address. Attendees will then engage in a Q&A session with Noel Murphy, Commercial Director of Granta Publishing. The event continues with the launch of the picture book When Mummy Had Cancer by debut author and cancer survivor Priyanka Pandya, illustrated by Debasmita Dasgupta, with editorial guidance by Alan Durant, moderated by Anila Dhami. The evening concludes with a book signing and networking with industry professionals, allowing attendees to connect, collaborate, and gain insights from established figures in the literary community.

StoryGarden offers a dynamic platform to showcase books by diverse authors, with opportunities for editorial critiquing from literary agents. Join award-winning children’s book illustrator and graphic novelist Debasmita Dasgupta for a live critique of visual storytelling. Her historical work, Jallianwala Bagh, 1919: The Real Story, received critical acclaim, and she is the founder of the world’s first Partition Museum in Amritsar, with a second in Delhi. As a playwright, her plays Devika Rani and Manto! have garnered praise. Lady Desai also worked in television for over two decades and continues to explore colonial history, currently working on a historical biography. She has been honored for her contributions to art, history, and literature in both India and the UK

Alan Durant is an author, his first books were about teenage life and came from his own experiences and concerns – he was fourteen when he discovered the immense and liberating power of writing and it was his main stay during his largely unhappy teenage years. He always loved reading. A big fan of The Narnia books by C S Lewis, Michael Hardcastle’s football stories and Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series. These books are still his most treasured possessions and were the biggest inspiration to him to become a writer.
He writes fiction for all ages, from pre-school prose to poetry for adults. His picture books include the award winning Burger Boy illustrated by Mei Matsuoka, Billy Monster’s Daymare illustrated by Ross Collins, I Love You Little Monkey illustrated by Kate McEwen and the classic story Always and Forever illustrated by Debi Gliori.
